This is the first collage I ever put in this sketchbook that has since become very close to my heart. I feel that this piece was the beginning of me really getting into mixed media, though I'd certainly done it before.

The Barbie packaging here is from my very own 1992 Secret Hearts Ken and 1996 Valentine Fun Barbie, some of the very first dolls I got when I started collecting Barbies as a teenager. The transparent pieces of plastic cut into hearts are actually from the front of those boxes. The light, opaque dot stickers are actually glow-in-the-dark vinyl "stars" meant to be put on the ceiling. We got a bunch of them for Christmas one year, and I remember for a long time we had a ton of extra sheets laying around even after we had stuck them all over the ceilings and walls of our rooms and on a bunch of our furniture. I'm not sure what happened to those after this.
